About the Event

The annual Bite of the Apprentice is WSCA's signature culinary competition and fundraiser. Date, time, and location will be announced. Stay tuned for details on this exciting competition showcasing apprentice talent. Competitors present one to two-bite hors d'oeuvres in an action-station style service. Attendees vote for People's Choice while professional judges award Judges' Choice and Best High School categories.

Spectator tickets: $25 adults, $10 children

For Competitors

Join other talented culinary professionals and apprentices to showcase your creativity and skill. This is your opportunity to present a signature dish or new creation to industry judges and food enthusiasts.

Competition Format

Presentation: Action-station style service

Preparation: Approximately 200 one-to-two bite hors d'oeuvres (hot, cold, or both)

Team Size: Up to 4 staff members per station

Judging: Professionals evaluate on creativity, execution, and presentation

Financial Support

Food Cost Reimbursement: WSCA reimburses up to $200 per team for food costs (receipt required)

Vendor Donations: Teams are encouraged to seek vendor donations to supplement costs

Equipment: Standard setup provided; notify us of additional equipment needs

Award Categories

Judges' Choice: Awarded by professional culinary judges
People's Choice: Voted on by spectators
Best High School: Special category for high school culinary programs

What are the registration deadlines?

Can I attend as both a competitor and spectator?

Competitors and their team members are welcome to enjoy the spectator areas after their setup is complete. However, you'll need to register based on your primary role.

What if my team needs special equipment?

Standard setup includes tables and basic kitchen facilities. If your team requires additional equipment, please note this during registration and contact us to discuss arrangements.

How do I request the $200 food cost reimbursement?

Submit receipts for food purchases using our online reimbursement form. Reimbursement is limited to $200 per team and is processed within 10 business days.

Is there parking available?

Yes, Bell Harbor Conference Center has on-site parking. Street parking is also available in the surrounding Pike Place Market area, and the venue is accessible by public transportation.
