The ACF Washington State Chefs Association hosted an ACF sanctioned competition at The Art Institute of Seattle on the weekend
of June 3rd & 4th, 2006.
Competitors competed in any of the following
categories:
A, B, C, D, K or P. Those competing in categories A, B, C
or D will need to bring their platters or showpieces to the event
already completed (time & space will be made available for final set-up & any finishing touches). Categories K & P will be executed in the
kitchens at The Art Institute.
The planned schedule is to have categories A, B, C and D judged on Saturday morning. Category P on Saturday morning & afternoon. Category K on Saturday afternoon & all day Sunday. Please let me know if you have any special scheduling needs. I will try my best to accommodate everyone. I don't want people to opt out of competing due to scheduling concerns.
Entry fees for the competition are $75 for professional and $50 for student/apprentice (up to 1 year after graduation or completion of apprenticeship). The deadline for entries is May 29th, 2006.
The Entry form is located in the Left column in PDF format. You can print, fill it out and mail or fax it to Jim McGuire at:

PRIZE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Now announcing a prodigious grand prize for the STUDENT competitor
judged "Best in Show" at this early June competition!
Compete in any category & get a nice high score. Then the judges will
review the highest scores in each category, compare & contrast, review
their notes and cast their votes for the grand prize winner, who will
win a 2-night package at the fabulous Sun Mountain Lodge in the
beautiful Methow Valley. Included in this amazing prize, Chef Patrick
Miller will give you a tour of their stunning new kitchen facilities
(currently under construction with a targeted early-May completion).
Critics are raving about the Sun Mountain Lodge*:
"Wonderful!"
"Fantastic!"
"Views from the dining room and bar were magnificent."
"It was a tremendous escape, and a beautiful drive to get there."
*Full disclosure: Actually all of these quotes were taken from one
critic, who also happens to be directed related to me.
More information about the Sun Mountain Lodge available here: www.sunmountainlodge.com/
Why would the Sun Mountain Lodge donate this spectacular prize to our
little competition? Because I promised them that this would be an
excellent way for them to get top-performing culinary students to pay
attention to their property, and then go there this summer for their
externships.
Sun Mountain Lodge is also looking for summer externships with housing available...call Theresa Patterson @ 509.996.4785
